A Little Nonsense Now And Zen

Buddha told a parable in sutra:

A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.

Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!

When You Stop Loving Your Teddy..

...this is what happens to him..

Thousands of soft toys are cruelly abandoned every year. Forced to live in rubbish dumps, dustbins and truck radiators they are driven to a life of prostitution, drugs and alcoholism.

Remember - a teddy is for life.

You can help these teddies live a productive and wonderful life..just donate £3 a month..and you can assuage your guilt..

Major Geek Tattoos

I've come across some wierd tattoos in my time. Some have been awesome - some have been crap - some of them have been awesomely crap.

Who can forget the 'Full English' or the 'Zombie Wife' (Thanks to John Brownlee once again for supplying never ending strands of entertainment.)

But then there were the classics - like the ultimate 'Zelda' .

Well here's a few more of my faves -

BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death n00b)

Friday Night Top Of The Pops

I know, I know - it's Friday night and I'm sitting, at home, in front of my computer moaning about the fact that there's sod all on TV.

I have a pile of DVDs piled up in columns to the ceiling (all of which I bought cos I loved and I could watch them time and again) but I don't feel like watching any of them. I have more music CDs than I know what to do with - but none of them hit the mark. I have the whole of the internet at my disposal but all I can do is lethargically tap the mouse in the vague hope that it will lead me somehow into a magical world of entertainment.

When it comes down to it - I'm a simple gal, with simple tastes and therefore I should be simply entertained.

So I'm gonna sit back with my glass of cheap red plonk, an assortment of munchies (funny thing munchies...it used to be all chocolate and cheap crisps when I was younger..these days it's a nice bagette, some good french cheese and a selection of fresh sliced fruit! - I may be growing up after all...lol) and watch a few half decent music vids from youtube.

You're welcome to join me if you'd like - and if there's any music vids you particularly like - let me know - maybe we can make this a regular Friday night thing...
Here tonight is - Gothika, Behind Blue Eyes - The Kinks, Lola - KT Tunstall, Other SIde of the World.

Firework Frenzy

I love fireworks - whether it's November 5th, New Year or my birthday - I adore the bangs and the colours and the smell of the gunpowder..
We usually spend Guy Fawkes night standing on the front patio of my Dads house while he and my brother-in-law aim rockets at the chavs at the bus stop below..it's quite a tradition now - every year the chavs turn up in bigger and bigger numbers and the incendiary dodgeball begins!
Bigger and bigger rockets are found every year and the expectation grows from about this time of year onwards..
So in honour of the upcoming display I have put two of my favourite firework vids on here..The first is the infamous Malcolm in the Middle episode....
The second is what we're trying to persuade my brother-in-law to organise for this years festivities...I'll have a video camera ready for if he does.
Enjoy..

Hello Kitty Costume

You may, or may not, know that I am a massive Hello Kitty/Sanrio fan. Anything and everything Hello Kitty is welcome under my roof. It's in my kitchen, my bathroom, my bedroom - even my car! But this time those sweet, sweet Japanese creators of all that is Kitty have truly excelled themselves....

Now I haven't got cats..but my dog is certainly looking worried..lol.

And so he should!

These little suits are available for £80 - one is winging itself to my door as we speak..

A Little Nonsense Now And Zen

Ryokan, a Zen master, lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening a thief visited the hut only to discover there was nothing to steal.

Ryoken returned and caught him. 'You have come a long way to visit me.' He told the prowler. 'You should not return empty-handed. Please take my clothes as a gift.'

The thief was bewildered. He took the clothes and slunk away.

Ryoken sat naked, watching the moon. 'Poor fellow.' He mused. 'I wish I could have given him this beautiful moon.'

Lonely Day - SOAD

Probably one of my favourite bands, System Of A Down, with one of their best tracks.
